Anu Aga's is an extraordinary tale—from the way she survived repeated family tragedies, to the turnaround she engineered at Thermax.
Mrs. Aga was the Chairperson of Thermax, the leading Indian player in energy and environment management. She was instrumental in turning around the company and bringing it to its growth path. Mrs. Aga retired in 2004 and is a Director on the Board of Thermax.
After graduating from St. Xavier’s College, Mrs. Aga did her post graduation degree at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the US for a short period. Mrs. Aga has been very active in various national and local associations. She had served as the Chairperson of Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Western Region. She has written extensively and given talks on the subjects of corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, women empowerment and valuing diversity in India. Mrs. Aga is keenly involved in the causes of communal harmony and human rights, especially of women and children. Since retiring, Mrs. Aga has chosen to focus on education for the underprivileged. She is closely involved with Akanksha, an NGO which supplements the educational needs of the slum children. In partnership with Pune Municipal Corporation and Akanksha, Thermax Foundation has adopted three municipal schools in Pune. She is on the Board of Teach for India, an initiative that attempts to bridge the inequity gap in education. Mrs. Aga is a Nominated Member of the Rajya Sabha. |
